"Made in Canada" is a Serious Issue!
While recent news about economic collapse around the globe may have turned more attention to trying to understand how this has happened, the underlying fault lines were etched and have been eroding for decades! Canadians, Americans, Europeans, and other peoples of the world, were sold a bill of goods called "Global Economy" (aka "globalization).
Promises of prosperity and security FOR ALL were touted as key rewards of global trade deals like the North American Free Trade Agreement (aka NAFTA), and now, the highly controversial and extremely secretive, Security and Prosperity Partnership (aka SPP, North American Union, NUA). Despite significant public disapproval, deals like these have gone through and legally bind Canada, the people of Canada, the economy of Canada, and the resources of Canada to plans drafted with a sole objective - to subordinate the government to the business elite for unprecendented prosperity at the expense of all else human and natural.
As a result of globalization, the "Made in Canada" label has been shamefully eroded and outright swapped with "Made in China", and other imports. Thousands of Canadians have lost their jobs due to outsourcing, and Canada's ability to compete in the manufacturing industry has dimished to troubling historic lows. The ultimate irony and tragedy is that, as more Canadians become impoverished and don the uniforms of the minimum wage community, they themselves, secure their fate by shopping at the very "big box" importers which have contributed to the problem!
"Made in Canada" is the SOLUTION!
Before deceptive product label practices and lax government consumer protection, "Made in Canada" and "Product of Canada" used to mean something.
