With all the rage over wireless technology, up to a million plus homes in the US have exposed themselves to a bizarre kind of technology manufactured in China and deployed in local retail outlets. If you are the proud owner of a Handy Switch Wireless Light Switch by Idea Village Products, you and your family may be in immediate danger!
On October 21, 2009, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission finally declared a recall of Handy Switch, Wireless Light Switches. While we may never know exactly how many people may have been injured or killed as a result of using this product, there are at least 14 reports of incidents including fires in homes caused by overheating of the Made in China product.
Interestingly enough, listings of stores selling the potentially dangerous Chinese-made product are NOT revealed by name in the government recall notice. If you have been displacing or substituting locally made (and safety regulated) products with cheaper goods from China, you may be setting yourself up for trouble!
The love affair between big corporate interests and the largely unregulated, human oppresive manufacturing machine of China may be easy to understand from a dollars and cents stand point. But, when you factor in the risks associated with bringing dangerous made in China products into homes, not to mention the corruption and mass human oppression the Chinese government (aka the authoratative Communist People’s Republic of China) represents, it just does not make ANY sense to continue supporting this madness!
Perfectly good local businesses have been forced to shut down because greedy importers, enjoying huge profits from nefarious sources of goods, have seduced and impoverished the middle class of North America into switching from safer locally made goods to risky cheap products.
